I loved my stay at Mayacala. Sally was sweet, kind and very helpful to get everything set up rather quickly. She was wonderful to do business with because she never made it feel like business.

Mayacala is a beautiful home with all the amenities needed to spend a great vacation. It is very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The rooms were very spacious and open. I especially enjoyed having breakfast every morning with that incredible view and everything that you would need to cook is provided.

Outdoors is an amazing garden beautifully landscaped, and of course the lake. A kayak was provided and that represented hours of enjoyment. Sally also has other great toys for your time in the water.

I stayed there for a month and never had a dull moment. You are surrounded by nature at it's finest and are constantly serenaded by it's beauty.

Something important to know is that it is a secure, remote and very tranquil area, if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of town find another place to stay; for me it was perfect.

My husband and I just returned from a stay at Maya Cala and definitely plan to return next year and stay longer. Both the home and the lake are stunningly beautiful.

Laguna de Bacarlar is a rare tropical paradise with warm crystal clear water surounded by lush jungle vegetation.

The moment we stepped out of the car we were immersed in a spectacular natural landscape that carried through to the house. Each room has a unobstructed view of the setting so you can dine, relax, or shower in the jungle.

Maya Cala is both comfortable and elegant. The furnishings are tasteful and practical. If you manage to pull yoursef away, the local attractions are interesting, close by, and inexpensive. Within an hour's drive you can snorkle in the Caibbbean or explore ancient Mayan ruins.

A vacation at Maya Cala will reward you with gentle tropical breezes, warm clear water, cool stary nights, and the seductive sounds of a genuine jungle paradise.

You will leave relaxed, restored, and ready to return.

El lugar es excelente para relajarse con la familia la Laguna aunque por circunstancias climatológicas no nos toco con sus espectaculares colores, aun así es un lugar fabuloso. Luciana siempre amable y atenta a lo que se requiera.

This is the most wonderful spot on earth, our third time back. This house has so many amenities. I have chosen to return again and again! I enjoy everything about this house and property. The house is so unique, the gardens and surroundings are magical. Everyone loves the clear clean water of the lake. Sally and management are very accommodating and look after everything that we ever needed.

"Location, Location, Location! "My family and I, with one three-year-old granddaughter, had a lovely stay for one week. This was our 3rd year renting. it feels like a second home to us now. "I've had many vacation rentals and this house was among the best-appointed properties I've ever seen. It was completely private. The house is open and airy with patio and terrace all over the villa views of the property gardens and the magnificent lake.

An absolutely beautiful location on Lake Bacalar!

Very quiet and private. I enjoyed waking to the birds calling throughout the jungle. The absolute mirror image of the large heron fishing at the waters edge and the groups of parrots flying over were a wonderful sight! Maya Cala was a special find for my family get away! We all enjoyed the Blue Shower! What a view! We are very curious as to what the big creature was that we saw making belly rolls offshore! Could it have been tarpon? Went in search with the kayaks, but the mystery was left unsolved~:-)

It was a great experience, the house is fantastic, comfortable, with so many birds. It was amazing to be in the middle of the jungle with such interesting plant species. The BBQ at the lake was amazing, we dined on the lake palapa most evenings what ambiance ! Relaxing with the lake and jungle views from the terrace or on the dock was a highlight for all of us. Beautiful setting with nature

No, we did not see the monkeys. I hope we can return on the future because the house is great!!!

Thanks for the experience and the service.

This absolutely a jewel in the jungle! What a spot with views and seclusion amongst nature.

-Franco (February 2020)

Very nice Villa, great views, unbelievable beauty in a completely private location. Right close by tourists’ attractions, every second day we went to a different ruin, and we also went to Los Rapids had lunch and spent the afternoon. there was 8 of us and we rented a Van. We will be returning.

We had a great experience staying at Sally's magical getaway. The Bacalar Lagoon is really something to be treasured and experienced at least once in a lifetime. The house is big and has plenty of shared spaces to have quality time with family and friends. The highlight of Sally's place is its location by the lagoon, the views are amazing...

- David (February 2020)

This is such a stunning gem, located in a very secluded and beautiful area on Bacalar lake. We enjoyed the kayaks and SUP, as well as the jungle views and sounds all around! Sally was a wonderful host. She put a ton of thoughtful detail into her property, highlighting all of the natural beauty of this location. We will definitely be returning in the future for a longer stay.

Our group of 7 adults (all family members) enjoyed 5 days at MayaCala and everyone of us would return in a heartbeat. The home is split into 3 rentals, we rented them all. One couple stayed in the Nest, another couple and a single person in the Casa and 2 single people in the Casita. The Casa & dining room was where we socialized as there was plenty of room for all of us. The majority of our time was spent swimming, snorkeling and Kayaking. Some went on a couple bike rides, There were 3 kayaks ( 2 singles & 1 double), 5 boogie boards, 2 bikes and some pool noodles all for our use and we used them all. The home is absolutely beautiful, everyone gasped upon entering at the expanse, view and decor. We were charmed from the moment we stepped in. There was good walk in access to the lake, no weeds, a dock and nice grounds. There was plenty of hot water, drinking water and linens. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of fans if you don't want to use the A/C. Sally responded immediately to all of our inquiries. We wanted for nothing. Thank you, Sally, for allowing us the honour of staying in a corner of your paradise.

- Debi S. (Dec 2019)

We all slept like baby’s in the jungle house, comfy beds, and bedding. Waking up to the birds each morning and eating breakfast overlooking the lake WOW! I did not want to leave.

-Sedarius January (2019)

This Lake house was a sanctuary! All the amenities were at are fingertips, to have all this is this unbelievable location is really a feat. The house lake and vegetation are spectacular. This is first on my list for a extended vacation spot.

This is such a stunning gem, located in a very secluded and beautiful area on Bacalar lake. We enjoyed the kayaks and SUP, as well as the jungle views and sounds all around! This home is stunning! The lake and jungle surrounding the property are relaxing and exactly what you need if you're looking for peace and quiet. Sally was a gem and manager is great. They're both super helpful and can advise you on things to do. The star gazing from the roof is epic and won't disappoint you. Bacalar is just about 20 minutes up the road and there's some nice restaurants there to enjoy. If you aren't looking to do much driving then bring everything you need for meals; there's not any seasoning or cooking oil, so come prepared if you plan to cook. I could honestly stay at this home for weeks and be happy never leaving the property!

- Jennifer (February 2019)

Staying at Maya Cala was such a treat. We easily could have stayed longer and hope to come back. The lagoon is stunning and the access to the kayaks and paddle boards was the perfect addition to our stay. I couldn't have asked for a better stay!!! Highly recommended!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Mayacala and would strongly recommend this place to couples, groups and families. The location of this villa is absolutely incredible. It's very secluded. There is one other villa nearby, but you can only see the dock off in the distance. The only people we saw where a few of Sally's staff which were not intrusive. The nature is wonderful. We saw monkeys, many types of birds, and fish. The water was calm, clear and the most beautiful colours of blues. We saw only two sailboats and 2 kayakers on the lake during our three days. It truly is a beautiful remote location "a hidden treasure". The palapa by the water is great. We hung out down there all day each day. There is a shaded and a sunny area. The swimming is great. The villa itself was great. You can't find something new and this remote that is brand new for the same price point. The kitchen was wonderful. Well stocked for an AirBnB. They even had a knife sharpener, so the cutting went smoothly. The view down to the water while cooking is just amazing. Would love nothing more than to cook every meal for the rest of my life in that kitchen. Our bed was very comfortable, the bathrooms were nice. The only issue we had was that our shower didn't really get hot enough, the solar hot water serving our suite was working intermittently. They allowed me to take a shower in one of the other suites which was nice of them, Not a big deal, these things happen sometimes at AirBnBs. Sally and her staff were extremely responsive with questions and requests. The value was spectacular... I cannot recommend this place enough!

- Visitor (April 2019)

The place is surrounded by jungle. Morning is full of birds and all other moments are quiet and serene. The dock has a big palapa to stay shaded from the sun, complete with lounge chairs to gaze at exquisitely clear water of many amazing blues. There are kayaks and paddle boards and the sweet fresh water of Bacalar. The spaces are well appointed and the privacy perfect. I have gone to Sally's paradise before and will definitely visit again!

- Michele (April 2019)

Outstanding location with nature and amazing views in the jungle right on lake Bacalar. House was stocked with kayaks and SUP boards which were a great way to experience the lake!

- Kyle (April 2019)

This is one of the most spectacular, beautiful, secluded, and incredible Airbnbs I have ever stayed in. It's a crown jewel. If you are looking for the most secluded, far from town, quiet, natural, and beautiful places ever, it's for you. We spent 2 weeks exploring the lake and relaxed and planning to return to this peaceful spot. Make sure you bring groceries and enjoy the hidden jungle treasures of Bacalar.

- Andrew (May 2019)

Maya Cala is a little bit of paradise for yourself. Its location among trees and far from other houses, make it a great relaxation place. Great space with amenities needed for a perfect getaway. Loved it! I will be back for sure.

- Tania (June 2019)

- Leonardo (july 2019)

Great place we had a lot of fun, we had 9 people the villa and outside is worth it.

- Gal (july 2019)

Peaceful, beautiful and relaxing. Want to get away from the crowds? This is the place.

- York (July 2019)

My husband and our 4 adult kids booked last minute as part of our two-week road trip. Luckily there was availability. We stayed for 12 nights and loved it. We stayed in the casa and Nest which had plenty of room. Everything was in working order and the views were amazing, great to wake up to. We had fun going out on the kayaks and swimming in the lagoon. Sally was the perfect host, really prompt in responding to us and the property manager showed us around and was on hand if we needed anything, although we didn't. There is a fully equipped kitchen, internet and hot water. We eat out in Bacalar and did a day trip to Mananhaul. So pleased we stumbled across this amazing spot. I would highly recommend this to a couple or larger group.

-Katie August (2019)

Great spot. Stunning views! Easy to access and lots of amenities. Highly recommend!

Ramona September (2019)

The place is very quiet with a lovely outdoor seating area and nice touches and comfortable beds. Are large extended family all having a wonderful time together at Maya Cala. We were out on the lake every day.

-Sofia October(2019)

Sally has created a wonderful living space in a magical setting Our group had a blast! The house is centrally located close to some remarkably interesting historic ruins and convenient to all amenities. You need a car if you want to explore all this area has to offer. There are nice outside terraces with beautiful lake views for sitting and having drinks after a day in the lake or home from an outing, it was the perfect refuge very private and quiet. The House is well kept and nice and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped and the appliances, including many extras small appliance, utensils so it is enjoyable cooking your meals. Despite the heat of the day and night it stays cool and comfortable we never turned on the A/C once. We all did our own thing through the day and came together for dinner and drinks each night. Are morning walks along the road and saw a group of monkeys and when we returned, they were at the house leaping through the trees. Two weeks and this place really helped maintain my karma and sanity from work and the busy everyday life living in a city. Sally is extremely helpful with any requests and replies very quickly on the AirBnB messaging. Management checked in were helpful with are questions and knowledgeable of the area. Can't thank Sally enough for being a great host and I would highly recommend Maya Cala.

- Lorne November (2019)

We spent the Christmas vacation here and it was one of the most relaxing time away that we have experienced for a very long time. Sitting eating our breakfast on the terrace watching the birds looking out over the lake each morning was the best thing ever. Our dinners we would all gather in the great room and eat together, relaxing on an extremely comfortable furniture watching a TV, when it got dark in the evening or playing board games, after playing all day in the lake,. A few mornings sleeping in to almost 10:00 am (unheard of for us!), a well-equipped kitchen, there was nothing that Sally had not thought of. There were other touches that made our stay extra special – the gardens and landscape are beautiful ... we highly recommend staying here - we hope to be back.

Jane December (2019)

Sally's place was exquisite. She has thought of everything you could need for a short or longer stay. We had an awesome time and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to getaway from it all. We took the SUP boards out each morning, the lake was like glass. What an OASIS completely private.

Went to Bacalar each Saturday is for the morning markets and bought are food for the week.

-Twila December (2019)

The place is great. The view of the sunrise is worth getting up early. Paddling in the lake was amazing and the nearby Panaderia de Santos has a fantastic Banana and nut cake. The house is 20 minutes from Bacalar, but worth the drive to get dinner and socialize. The house has potential for several groups at the time and we felt all would have their own privacy. I definetly recomend it. Make sure you set especific hours with the gatekeeper so you have no problems arriving and leaving, all else was great.

- Ezequiel (January 2018)

You won't find a better place in Bacalar to stay! We loved every minute of our stay at Maya Cala! Besides being steps away from the beautiful lagoon the best thing is how private and secret this place feels! Loved our stay and already planning to come back!

- Alex (February 2018)

Amazing location, completely isolated! Beautiful views and a gorgeous house. Careful with food though as in the jungle with lots of ants around.

- Luke (December 2018)

A truly wonderful house in an outstanding location it felt lovely or a once in a lifetime experience.

- John (July 2018)

I am an Airbnb veteran and must admit that Sally's home on Bacalar Lagoon is breathtakingly beautiful. The private dock, seating areas and lighting at night made it such a magical place. Trust me; this is one of the most spectacular locations ever.

- Jeannie (March 2018)

Incredible private location. This is a true Villa with modern everything. WiFi works fine. Make sure you fully download and understand the detailed directions for accessing the place. It's in a cell phone dead zone so don't count on being able to access WiFi as you approach. Once you get in, you're fine. The paddle boards and kayak were so fun to use and are a great perk! Tips: The kitchen is fully equipped but be sure to bring everything you need in terms of food and drinks (a large water bottle is there so no worries there), including coffee, sugar, creamer and spices if you plan to cook. Don't leave food out or you get ants (as you would in most any warm weather place). The bedroom is gorgeous with full windows. You can cover most of them but if you are light sensitive, bring eye covers. We found it a great way to wake up to muted natural light. It's not like the sun shines directly in, it's just not pitch black. Bring water shoes. Like most of the lagoon, there are rocks. It's very private but if people are at the neighboring properties, you can see each other at a distance. It's easy to sun out of line of sight. Highly recommended!

- Jim (November 2017)

Pictures do not do this place justice! Completely stunning, lagoon front paradise. It's a little hike to bacalar but definitely worth it for the quiet, and pure beauty of the place!

- Greg (August 2017)

"This charming setting perfect in every way for our family of 4. Our friends recommended Maya Cala and we were so taken with the beautiful property. Really appreciated the Kayaks and paddle boards All amenities we needed were there making it easy to cook, check-in process was seamless. Managed every step of the way. This home is in the perfect location for our needs and where we were intending to go each day."

Olga (August 2017)

Right from our initial contact Sally was 'on the ball' from getting back to us (we were a last-minute booking) to instructions how to get there, being met by the property manager and also offering suggestions. Sally doesn't live onsite but is fast and efficient with contact via email. Mayacala is a gem. If you require beauty, serenity or just peace this is the place for you. The position also makes it easy to travel to Bacalar and beyond if you want to venture out. We mostly hung out at Maya Cala but ventured out to ruins close by, and did an afternoon in Mahahaul, had a great lunch and went snorkeling.

- Jude (August 2017)

I am usually a guy that gets cabin fever really fast. Got to go do stuff. At Sally's place I've been able to relax for the first time in my life I think for 10 days in a row not needing to do anything else then hanging out in and around her house. My girlfriend experienced a new me. She really loved it. Everything was just perfect.

- Alexander (February 2017)

The home is sufficiently comfortable, and the location is magnificent. We highly recommend the kayaks.

- Monica (December 2018)

Maya Cala is a beautiful house! Sally was extremely fast and kind in her responses. My family was able to each have their own space to relax. We absolutely loved the “isolated” location. It is much easier to find than you think. Our favorite part was relaxing on the dock and utilizing the paddle boards! Thank you Sally!

- Jose & Elana (October 2018)

Sally's place is truly unique, beautiful architecture, great attention to details in the decor, the jungle setting, bacalar lagoon and wildlife (I saw a zerete "Dasyprocta mexicana", bats, fish and many many birds). For being that remote it has all the creature comforts (A/C, TV, some WIFI), Excellent service (Miguel got me a charcoal bag, recieved me and saw me out, got me settled down with a house tour, etc). We used the kayaks and swam in the lagoon too. BTW it is in the jungle expect bugs at some point. Stay here it is worth it!

- Guillermo (June 2017)

We had a great experience staying at Sally's place. The Bacalar Lagoon is really something to be treasured and experienced at least once in a lifetime. The house is big and has plenty of shared spaces to have quality time with family and friends. The highlight of Sally's place is its location by the lagoon, the views are amazing. We also really enjoyed the the Bora Bora style floating terrace on the lagoon and spent most of our time there and enjoying the complimentary kayaks offered at the property. Although our experience was great I would like to leave some comments that might be useful for future guests: -The House is not located directly located in Bacalar town, it is a 25min drive from it. The house is surrounded by an unpolluted environment where you can't see anything but nature. No neighbors, no houses. Just jungle, animals, and the lagoon.

- David (July 2016)

Fantástica!! El lugar es precioso, la Laguna super tranquila. La casa está super completa y super cómoda. A todo mundo le fascinó. Varios ya dijeron que les gustaría volver en otro momento. Sally siempre atenta por cualquier problema o duda. Super recomendado.

- Keren (June 2016)

It is an amazing place. Far away from the noisy town in a private place with very good security. Out arrival was very smooth and esay, so it was the checkout. The private access to the lagoon is priceless. We took the "Casita" and even when there were guest in the main house we did not notice it at all. Almost did not seem them through all our stay. We are a couple with two kids and they really enyoyed dribingg the kayk to the island. I will recomend it with no doubts.

- Sebastian (August 2016)

Un petit paradis... Vraiment!
